Office 365 Pro Plus fails to update with Error Code 30182-27

Hi,

I have installed Office365 Pro Plus Version 1902 Build 11328.20438

with Business license using Microsoft Office Deployment Tool (ODT).

I chose “Semi-Annual” update channel, and “Automatically check for updates” from a “local path” instead of Internet.

In my configuration file, i have:

SourcePath="C:\Temp"

UpdatePath="C:\Temp\Office365_Updates"

I installed using ODT file and  command:

C:\Temp\setup.exe /configure  "c:\temp\myconfiguration.xml"

Installation run well. Office365 with the version 1902 Build 11328.20438 have been installed on my PC.

Then i downloaded an Office365 update version 1902 Build 11328.20480

and i put the "Office" folder into my PC folder C:\Temp\Office365_Updates

And i wait that "Office Automatic Updates" Scheduled task run, to update my Office365.

But it doesn’t update to this version .

And I also cannot update this Office365 installation using

File > Account > Update Options > Update Now button

from Office365 application (Word, Excel, or Outlook) on my PC.

I have the following error message:

“Error Code: 30182-27 (2)

We’re sorry, we ran into a problem while looking for updates. Please check your network connection and try again later.”

I would like update to Office365 version 1902 Build 11328.20480

In other hand, with Administrator right,  i have modified, the run time of "Office Automatic Updates" task, in Windows 10's Scheduler tasks, to check if it run well.

It run successfully at the time i planned, but my Office365 installation doesn't update.

Normally this task should update from the folder i setup in my configuration file: "C:\temp\Office365_updates"

But it seems not the case.

Please could you help ?

Thank you.

    Hi Dihao,

If Group Policy settings are the only way to “speed up the O365 updates installation” i will use it.

And you also advise to use local or Network path instead of Microsoft CDN, to improve the update

I’ve tested O365 updates installation from a local path of the PC, and you’re right it takes one day to apply.

To avoid a lot of Administration, I will start update from Microsoft CDN with a “Target version” and “Deadline” settings configure via Group Policy.

And see if I happy with updates installation time. If not, I will move to updating from a local Network path.

    Thank you for your advice.

About my issue “Error Code: 30182-27, I’ve posted a message on TechNet Community under “Office 2016, Office 2019 and Office 365 ProPlus – IT Pro” category.

And one expert finds the solution. For him, that issue is due to the lack of v64.cab/v32.cab when using Version attribute in Add element.

It seems that the v64.cab file miss when you specify Office365 version to download.

I have tested it and I confirm that if the update files doesn’t contain v64.cab file, update cannot run using Update Now” button.

I tested that Office365 update files without the “v64.cab” file, can be use only with Microsoft ODT tool “setup.exe /configure configuration.xml” command.

It’s not necessary that you test that update processes again as I had a reply of this issue.

Thank you very much for your support.

    I really appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Savanes

    Hi Dihao,

I would like to thank you for your support. I appreciate.

My issue is not with ODT tool. This tool run well.

I have an issue with the updates process. The error code occurs when I click on “File -> Account –> Updates Options -> Update now button”.

    I get error message:

“Error Code: 30182-27 (2) We’re sorry, we ran into a problem while looking for updates. Please check your network connection and try again later”.

If I restart my test following these steps:

    1)

    1. Use ODT tool to create a configuration file, select Office365 version 1902  Build 11328.20438 with Semi-Annual update Channel. And :

     Source path: C:\Temp

     Update path    C:\Temp

I downloaded installation files “Office” folder into C:\Temp

I can install Office365 version 1902  Build 11328.20438 on my PC using ODT tool and my configuration file.

It works fine using command: Setup.exe /configure myconfiguration.xml

     2) I modified my configuration file with Microsoft Office Customization Tool to select Office version 1902  Build 11328.20480 with Semi-Annual update Channel.

I downloaded installation files again for Office version 1902 Build 11328.20480 into C:\Temp folder.

    I can use ODT tool:  Setup.exe /configure myconfiguration.xml

to update my Office365 installation on my PC to version 1902 Build 11328.20480

    That process run well.

But I don’t want to update Office365 manually. Because if this update process run well, I will apply it to all company PC (150 users).

I would like update all PCs from a local path to control the update process.

    My questions:

    a)      a) Why my step 2 cannot run automatically?

Office365 is not updating automatically from the update path (C:\temp) ?

I’ve setup this folder in my configuration file.

When I downloaded the updates files into C:\Temp, and click on button “Update Now” from Word or Excel application (using “File -> Account –> Updates Options -> Update now button”) I get “Error Code: 30182-27 (2)”

    b) This button cannot be use to update Office365 from a local path ?

And when I wait the Schedule task “Office Automatic Updates 2.0” run. It doesn’t update.

**b)**c) After how long “Office Automatic 2” task can successfully apply update on Office365 ?

(update from “version 1902  Build 11328.20438”  To “version 1902  Build 11328.20480”).

In my understanding, I have only to:

    ·        Specify the update path in the configuration file

    ·        Download updates files and put them in update folder

Then Office365 will automatically update using “Office Automatic Updates 2.0” schedule task.

This task run well, but any updates are applied. I’m confuse.

Please help to update automatically from a local path.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,

    Savanes.

    Hi Savanes,

Thank you for your reply and sharing the XML code here. I also ran the XML code in my test environment, it seems that the XML code is fine from my side and it can install Office successfully.

After I did some research, another cause of this error which it could be the existing version of Office applications. And it leads to upload failure when you run the xml file with ODT tool.

I suggest you can remove the existing Office applications from your computer completely by using the uninstall support tool. You can download the uninstall support tool from this websiteOption 2

After that, make sure the installing package Office version 1902 Build 11328.20480 is located in the right location (Ensure the current user have the full permission to access the source path and update path location). Then run the ODT tool and see the result.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    Hi Savanes,

    Thank you for your understanding.

Generally, if you update the Office application from official Microsoft server or what we call Microsoft Content Delivery Network, the update time will be determined by your internet environment such as bandwidth of your company.

That’s why a local path or a network shared location within company domain environment will be widely used to improve the update or deploy efficiency.

Regarding to your concerns about “speed up the installation” process time by using Group Policy or other methods. Based on my knowledge, the group policy only can force the update settings or update settings on user’s computer. The speed of update/install process is still be determine by the local internet environment in your organization. However, for the Group policy settings, I recommend you can raise this concern on TechNet community under Group Policycategory. The experts there can share more professional ideas or suggestions on this concern.

    Best regards,

    Dihao
