Hi. We have an office 365 education licence and I used to have no problem editing document on my mac but now I cannot. Our licence has not changed. I have checked that I have all licences (I am one of the administrators) and also deleted the UBF8.... folders but nothing. I really need to edit an excel spreadsheet on the Mac urgently, as the online version doesn't offer the features I need. Please help!

Hi Emma,

Thanks for posting your issue in this community. Your issue now is unable to edit Excel for Mac. If so, I would like to provide some suggestions for your to refer:

  1. Ensure your Mac and Office have the latest updates. See update your Mac & Update Office for Mac automatically
  2. Start Mac in safe mode to help stop your Mac from starting up, or any issues related to your startup disk.

  1. Go to ~/Library/Preferences, locate the files com.microsoft.Excel.plist and com.microsoft.Office.plist, move them to the Desktop > restart Excel.
  2. Clear Office credential caches:

    a. Quit Office applications and open Finder > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access

    b. Remove the following:

    Microsoft office Identities Cache 2

    Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2

If the issue still persists, please provide the following information with us:

  1. Please firstly access this url to check if there is “the latest desktop version of office” and capture the screenshot of this page.
  2. Does the issue happen on all Excel worksheets or a specific one? Please create a new worksheet to have a check.
  3. Can you edit other applications? Such as Word, PowerPoint?
  4. Any screenshot of the error or prompt you've received is appreciated.

5.  Your Mac & Office version. Please click Apple menu> capture "About this Mac"> share the screenshot with us. Also open Excel> click “About Excel” and capture the screenshot here.

We are willing to further investigate your issue, please feel free to post back.

Best regards,

Gloria
