powerpoints with the first slide as the icon

Formerly my computer would show all my powerpoints with the first slide as the icon.  Now I just have a generic "powerpoint" logo icon for all my powerpoints.  This makes it hard for me to know which powerpoint I want to go to, since they all look alike (although each has a different name).  How can I go back to the old way of displaying the powerpoints?

Displaying an thumbnail as the icon view depends on a PowerPoint option and a view choice.

To set the option in PowerPoint, choose File>Info, click on the Properties heading and choose Advanced Properties. Select the Summary tab and check the box beside Save preview picture.

To set the view option in Windows, choose to display a folder with Medium Icons, Large Icons, or Extra Large Icons. Small icons, List and Detail views will not show the thumbnails.

In the same tab where you set Large Icons go further right to Options and in Folder and search options make sure "ALWAYS SHOW ICONS" is NOT ticked.

If you use Small Icon view, List view or Detail view, you'll only see generic icons.

Thank you for the information.  I have followed the steps and find that all of those details were already present for the powerpoints, yet when the icons come up on the computer screen, they have the generic powerpoint icon.  So the problem must be due to something else.  I appreciate your assistance.
