Textures on 3D models not importing to PowerPoint or 3D Paint

I've created 3D models in various applications, exported them as .fbx (and .glb) then imported the models into PowerPoint 365.

The geometries import nicely, but they do so without textures, lights, colors, etc.

I've tried going into 3D Paint first but find the textures, etc are not visible there, either.

For reference sake, when I open the fbx (and glb) in another app, the textures, etc. are intact and correct.

Is this a 1) bug  2) file limitation or 3) user error?

Ideas?

    Hi kmiracle,

Thanks for the update, For the issue of PowerPoint didn’t show textures in some 3D object well, I search and find a possible that may work for you, please check the last post from PatrickTwelftree in the thread: 3D object has no texture in Powerpoint 365

“Hi I had the same problem, exporting out of 3DS Max to FBX files I got no textures when importing in to Power Point, the solutions for me was to make sure the images used for the textures the FBX and Power Point files where all in the same folder. ”

    Hope these can help.

    Regards,

    Clark

Unfortunately, export/saving to .3mf is not an option for the applications I'm using.

But, most importantly, the models open perfectly in other applications and online viewers. I'll disagree and state that the problem is with PowerPoint.

@John, thanks for the link to the Content Guidelines. Lots of good info in there but none that resolve the immediate issue.

    Hi kmiracle,

I go through the post carefully. I would confirm with you that, if you insert a online 3D model in PowerPoint(Insert>3D model>Form online source ) does the models display normally?

Additionally, here a article that my help you troubleshooting the issue: Why do my 3D Models have an odd texture?

If these don’t help, could you please share information below with us for further troubleshooting?

    1. What is your Office version? please share a screenshot of your File>Account page with us.
    2. Do the online 3D models from Insert tab shows normally?

    Regards,

    Clark

    Clark - I'm working with Ofice 365 - PPTX version 1908 (Build 11929.20648 Click-to-Run).

Models sourced from online -  Insert > 3D Models > From Online Sources - display correctly.
