Hi,

We have an excel sheet placed in our shared drive (multiple users have access to this sheet). This excel sheet has a live connection from SharePoint online list. Whenever the excel is opened it runs a background query and pulls fresh data from SharePoint. All this has worked fine for a few weeks and recently few users are encountering the below issue and the excel sheet is not updating if it is opened in their computer's and it works all good for others.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Uday,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

Per your error message provided, generally, this error message will be encountered when the users don’t have permission to refresh the data source. So, to narrow down the problem with the users, ask them to delete the Global Permission for the connected query.

Open the Excel file from the problematic user’s end> Click any cell in the table of SharePoint Online List> Click on Query tab> Edit> Data source settings> Global permissions> Clear Permissions> Close.

Now try to Refresh the table and it will ask you to enter the credentials, enter the account details and check the outcome.

If the problem persists, can you please provide the screenshot of the Office application Account page for problematic user and user working normally? (Open the Excel application> Account> Take a screenshot)

Note: Please mask the email address and tenant name to protect your privacy.

    Appreciate your understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas
