Onedrive for Mac - Multiple accounts - I want to delete one account

I sued to have three different Onedrive accounts - a combination of personal and work ones.  I've simplified life a bit and just need ONE of those to still be active.  When I start the Onedrive app on Mac OSX it tries to log in to all three legacy accounts.  It's successful on the one that is still active but then asks for the login credentials for the two accounts that are no longer disabled.  I've tried removing the Onedrive app and installing it fresh but it picks up the three legacy account information from some file that wasn't removed with the uninstall.  So - how do I edit or delete the right file(s) that contain all that legacy account information?  Thanks!

Dear Sandy,

From your description, it seems that you want to only use one account with the OneDrive sync client for Mac. If yes, I suggest you first back up all files with the three accounts to an external drive or other places.

Then I suggest you perform the following steps to see the result.

  1. Open Spotlight by selecting the magnifying glass at the top right of your desktop.
  2. Search for and open Keychain.
  3. In the search field, enter adal.
  4. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:<GUID>, and then press Delete.
  5. In the search field, enter office.
  6. Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.
  7. Quit Keychain Access.
  8. Open the OneDrive sync client for Mac>click on the OneDrive sync client for Mac’s icon>More>Preferences>Account>Unlink this Mac to unlink other two accounts to stop the sync between local Macs and online.
  9. Remove the local sync folders of two other accounts.
  10. Quit the OneDrive sync client for Mac, restart the Mac and open it again.

Best Regards,

Cliff

Thanks Cliff, but there are plenty of other posts with people having the same problem, they are locked out of their accounts and cannot remove business OneDrive. So instead of deflecting perhaps you could let us know what Microsoft are doing to find a solution?

    Hello,

I believe I have the same wish to remove a no longer used account.

In my case, it is OneDrive for Business (if that makes a difference) for an account I no longer have the credentials for, and I am not able to get them either.

I uninstalled the OneDrive for Mac app, removed all the related items in keychain, cleared everything in ~Library/* I could find with a reference to OneDrive, but when I reinstall and launch OneDrive again, the sign in dialogue goes to the log in page for the account I want to remove.

    Please help.

    Hi,

I have the same problem. I have followed the steps above, though steps 5-6 yielded no results.

I can't do step 8 because I can't access the preferences for the account I wish to remove as I am no longer able to log-in to it which means the only option available to me is to quit one-drive which then just tries to log back in straight away. I can't reach the preferences. Any suggestions would be useful.

    Thanks
