Linking one powerpoint slide to another.

I have encountered an issue with a powerpoint project I am working on. I want to be able to add a link in my text to another slide in the presentation. I have watched tutorials on how to do this, but what I am seeing in my office 365 powerpoint appears different than what the tutorials have shown, and I am unsure why. The tutorials tell me to select the text, image, etc., select insert, select hyperlink, and then pick the desired location in the window the appears. Below is a still from the Microsoft tutorial:

However, when I select hyperlink, I only see this window:

...which only gives me the option of linking the chosen text to a URL address. Is there a setting that I have turned off? Is this an issue with my office 365 account? I have my account through my employer, an educational institution.

Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to implement a project idea while my students learn remotely. Thank you!

    Dear Dylan,

Thanks for posting in our forum.

Based on my test, this feature is only available in PowerPoint desktop application instead of PowerPoint for Web.

When I trying to link to the different slide in the same presentation in PowerPoint application, I can see the same behavior as the tutorials.

For your reference: Link to another slide in the same presentation

Moreover, you mentioned that you are using an account from an educational institution. We want to confirm that whether you have related license to us Office desktop client. You can go to portal.office.com and sing in with this work account, go to My account-> Subscription-> And find the license named ”The latest desktop version of Office”.

If you can see this license, you can click “Open in Desktop app” to insert hyperlink within the same presentation in client application. If you don’t have this license, you can only use PowerPoint for Web currently. You can contact your IT admin in institution to let them assign related license to you.

If you have issue when using PowerPoint desktop application, please feel free to contact us and we will provide further assistance. Have a nice day!! 😊

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Best Regards,

    Ivy

Thank you for this support. I also have the desktop app and was able to perform this function that way. This will work for me, though I wonder why Microsoft doesn't allow this feature in the web version.
