I have a newly purchased refurbished PC with Windows 10 Professional. I installed Office 365 Home. Trying to open a recent Excel file from OneDrive, I get message: "you have a newer version of office installed ... have detected newer versions of Office installed
... Microsoft Office 365 - en-us ... if you want to install an older version ... please remove these newer products and try again."
The file was initially created on the latest version of Word for Android. It has file extension .xlsx (newest available). And I do not understand why Office 365 cannot open a recent .xlsx file at all.
I do not want to go back to an older version of Office, especially after paying for the new subscription.
I do have an older version of Word noted in Program Files, sort of, namely Microsoft Office 15. It includes one sub-folder, Clientx64. I suspect the refurbisher did an incomplete uninstall of this older version. I find no mention of this older program in
the MS uninstaller or Revo or Glary uninstaller.
How can I get rid of all traces of Office 15? Do I have to search and revise the registry (shudder)?
