Equations not displaying properly in PowerPoint with iPad

After the last update I am no longer able to use PowerPoint on my ipad due to the fact that equations are not displaying properly.  Symbols such as equal signs, multiplation signs are missing.  Files which were working are no longer displaying equations properly.  I made sure to embed the equations while saving, etc.  I need this function to make lessons.  I tried to upload the files on my iphone and it works fine with the phone, but not the ipad.

Hi MSJH,

Thanks for providing the sample file for us.

Based on our test, as you said, this presentation display perfectly in iPhone but not in iPad. After checking all the equations in the presentation, they are existing as Shape not Equation object. Please check this screenshot below:

We assume this could be the possible reason why these equations won’t show correctly in iPad.

Moreover, we found that we can convert these equations to Official Math function. After converting, they can display correctly in presentation on iPad. You can try to convert these equations to Office Math and check the result in iPad.

Last, we recommend using Equation tool to write an equation or formula in PowerPoint or Word application. It will benefit your work. For your reference: Write an equation or formula

Please don't mind the extra work, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding. You we welcome to contact us if you have any concerns when using Microsoft 365 products.  😊

Best Regards,

Ivy

    Hi MSJH,

Based on our test, the equal signs and multiplication signs can display properly in PowerPoint on iPad. You mentioned that the same file works normally in your phone but not in iPad, so issue should not relate to the file itself.

We suggest you try these steps to narrow down this issue:

    1.  Create a new Presentation and insert some equations, open this presentation in iPad to check whether the issue happens to the new file.

    1.  Update your PowerPoint application in iPad, the latest version is 2.37.
    2. Open the same file in PowerPoint for Web in iPad to check the result. To determine whether this issue is related to application.

If issue persists, which version of PowerPoint you are using?  Thanks for your cooperation.

    Best Regards,

    Ivy
