Please confirm you have Office 365.

If you do, you have the right to install Office 365 on up to 5 computers at the same time.  In your internet browser go to the "MyAccount" website, log in and "Install"

Windows users have to do it the hard way. You will presumably buy a new Mac.

On the other hand, how old is your version of Microsoft Office? If it is 2011 or older, it won't run on a new Mac. You'll need to get Microsoft 365.

    Dear Marlenen,

Thanks for posting the thread on our forum.

I'd like to confirm what you mean about "I have a new laptop, how do I get my word back on this new laptop".

Generally, if you want to get the files saved on the previous Mac and if the files are also saved online such as in the personal OneDrive online place (www.onedrive.com), in the OneDrive for Business site, in the site library in SharePoint Online and so on, you can just go to the online places to sync the files to your new Mac with the sync tools.

If you just save the files locally, you can check whether you save them in a external drive. You can also use Time Machine to do a backup.

If you want to transfer the Office for Mac applications' settings on the previous Mac to the new Mac, I'm afraid that it may not be easy. You may need to re-made the settings on the newly installed Office for Mac applications. There are some third-party tools which may do that on Windows. You can search some tools and contact their providers to see if it can be achieved on Mac as well.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff
