Hi

In Powerpoint an inserted high resolution image looks blurry when viewed in full-screen, but looks crisp when zoomed in. Why?  This is a file that looks fine on my PC laptop, but a coworker says it looks blurry on hers when she views full-screen.  But when she zooms in it is crisp.  Is something happening due to her personal settings in PPT or her monitor?  How do I control for that?

The files files you included aren't particularly high resolution, maybe the originals are sharper. Antialiasing will make them look more blurry.

Most artists use JPEGs for all bitmaps. This is a mistake with line art. JPEGs should only be used for photos or graduated tones.

Instead, create and indexed-color PNG at 200 d.p.i. or higher. The results will be sharper and have a smaller file size than what you're creating now. For more detail, please see my article about this: JPEG Logos? Fail! - Best Practices

Please post a screen shot of what you are seeing using the Insert image tool:

PowerPoint does apply antialiasing to photos, so you may be seeing that.

    Hi John, thanks for responding.

I have included 2 screen captures that a colleague has sent -- she is the end user and she feels that the type is blurry when the slide is viewed on a small laptop screen.

NOTE:  the images are high resolution jpegs, inserted properly with the compression settings not resizing.  When you zoom in 300% the letters are crisp.

If anti aliasing is an issue when zoomed out, what would help?  The client is concerned that type is blurry.  Is the only response to rebuild the graphics with live type, or is there a way to get ppt to render type crisp when zoomed out?   If anti aliasing is effecting the rasterized type, is it worse when zoomed out?

    Thanks for your help.
