Word...on Windows10   Newsletter set up with text boxes having text in them... want to add a picture within the text box and have the text wrap around it. Won't do it... only way is to have the entire document text outside the text box and wrap around that... I want to wrap around a photo within the text box

Why are you using a Text Box?

Paul is suggesting that you use a single-cell table instead of a text box.

Which specific characteristics of a text box do you need that cannot be fulfilled by a single-cell table.

In order to use text-wrapping, the image needs to be inserted with a wrap format other than in-line. Textboxes only support in-line image insertion.

You could instead use a single-cell table. When you've inserted the image, make sure to give it a wrap format other than in-line. If needed, the single-cell table can also be given an 'around' wrap format, so that text in the document body will wrap around the table.

Charles... thanks also... to be honest it was just the expectation I could build a document with text boxes and position them and then fill them with pictures and wrap text in the manner a 'simple' document works.  I was trying to learn from one of the newsletter templates and it appeared that text boxes were used.  The tables is a neat workaround.  ***

Textboxes have one characteristic that warrants their use: the ability to chain them together so that text will flow from one to another. They are shapes so they can also be rotated other than at 90 degrees. As far as I know tables will replace them for things that do not require those.

Text in textboxes is not in the body of the document, it is in a separate layer, even if the textboxes themselves are in-line-with text. See my page: Frames and Textboxes in Microsoft Word

Obviously, Frames can also replace textboxes for many purposes.

Textboxes have been reported here to cause problems with document structure. I believe MVP Doug Robbins has said he only uses them for the chaining feature.

Thanks for the reply... I must be missing something.... I can make a 1 cell table inside a text box, fill it with a picture, but then the wrap options are greyed out and in-line is the only option which obviously leaves large amounts of white space in the box.   Wanting to lay out all the text items using the flexibility of a text box, wanting a small picture with that text and for the text within the box to flow around it would seem a common need.  I'd be happy with just a square wrap limitation but it seems impossible to easily achieve.  What am I missing... that allows for this ?  thanks again
