Hi team,

I am looking to purchase the Microsoft 365 with the 1TB per user storage. Is this storage backedup ? Will I lose my data in the event of a data center malfunction or server crash? . Can you throw some light on data backup and data redundancy .

I am not looking for personal recovery of deleted files. I am talking about server crash event. All the data, I store in the 1TB onedrive storage, Will I lose it ?

Kind regards,

Ram

    Hi  Ram,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I’m glad to offer help.

As OneDrive is one of Office 365 service, Data Resiliency in Office 365 delivers high availability to customers.

Based on Data Resiliency in Office 365, we can understand that customers’ data copies are stored in different zones, even if one of them has a problem, the customer's data will not be affected.

Considering I’m not from the Data Protection Team, to avoid providing incorrect information, you can see more details from the following documentation:

    -      Data Resiliency in Office 365

Please feel free to let us know if you have any concerns, I’ll try my best to help you.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

It appears you are asking about the business version of Office 365.

    .

In general, it appears that MS does a better job of protecting user data in OneDrive for Business.

    .

But on the consumer side, it is more risky.  I've seen a few questions here where people have reported that part or all of their onedrive files have been "lost". When they contact MS support the reply is effectively "tough noogies", you are on your own.  A couple of people have reported that their email accounts have been blocked by MS, and they have effectively had no way of getting access back.
