Insert a .pdf image into powerpoint

Hi,

I was trying to insert a few vector images with .pdf format into my slides. With PowerPoint on Mac OS, I can simply drag the file into the slides and they show up properly as images. However, with PowerPoint on Win10, pdf file can only be inserted as an object and show up as a pdf logo (pdf object). You can only view the image by clicking the pdf logo and it will be opened externally. I was wondering is there a way to properly import .pdf images into my slides with PowerPoint on Windows 10?

Thanks!

Raye

Hi Raye,

Really appreciate for your patience to provide the complete requested information and performing the tests at your end.

Since you are using the Semi-Annual Enterprise channel, we have tested in the latest version and previous version of Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel i.e. Version 2002 (Build 12527.20988) and Version 2002 (Build 12527.20880), we can reproduce the same behavior as yours at our end. As we said we cannot reproduce the problem in our reply before, that test result was from Current Channel.

In conclusion, the problem is affected in the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, so we reported this behavior to the related developing team by providing the feedback from the Office applications. We also request you add your feedback which is the best way to report it. Here is the reference: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

At last, we also observed your Office applications are not managed by your administrator, so as workaround, you can switch your Office applications from Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel to Current Channel to work effectively.

Here is the reference article: Change the Microsoft 365 Apps update channel for devices in your organization(Use Office Deployment Tool)

Hope you understand and have a good day 😊

Best Regards,

Chitrahaas

    Hi Raye,

Thanks for getting back to us and providing the requested information. From the screenshot provided, we totally understand the problem and observed you are using the latest version of Semi-annual channel at your end, but we would like to confirm the Product Information of your Office application so it will be helpful to test in the same environment of Office applications.

In addition, can you try to insert the Object in the Word application and check whether it will display as icon even it's unchecked?

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas

    Hi Chitrahass,

Thanks for the reply.  I forgot to mention that I'm running Windows 10 Education with a virtual machine using Virtualbox on a Linux system which might have something to do with the issue.

     - The screenshots are attached to this post.

     - This problem happens with all presentation new or old.

     - I tried with Word and the same issue also happens.

    Hi Raye,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused at your end.

First, we would like to make you aware of spam post which you should’ve received an email saying to call the number. Please don’t call to that number which is a spam and we also reported spam poster to the Forum Community.

From the description provided, we understand you are trying to insert the PDF into the PowerPoint presentation where you can see only as the PDF logo but based on my test, when you insert the PDF either by dragging into presentation or inserting using the Object feature by unchecking the (Display as icon), it will be shown as an object where double-clicking on it will open the PDF in the application which was set in Default Apps.

As you can only insert the PDF as an icon in the PowerPoint for Windows, I would like to request you provide the following information for moving further:

    a. Screenshot of the PowerPoint application Account page. (Open the PowerPoint application> Account> Take a screenshot including Product Information and About Version)

    b. Screenshot of the behavior when you insert the PDF as an Object.

    c. Does this problem happens with specific presentation or even with the new presentation?

    d. Can you try to insert the Word document and check whether it displays as icon?

Appreciate your understanding and stay safe 😊

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas
