    Hi Pride73,

You may have received an email/reply to your question with a number suggesting that you call Microsoft. Do NOT call, it’s a scam. The phone number does not belong to Microsoft, the scam post has been deleted and the user’s profile is inactive now.

Further, may I know where you were in the install process when you received the error?

Microsoft has listed common error codes which might appear when downloading/installing Office 365 apps. Please check the section Error messages when installing Office in this article.

I tried searching but there’s no record of the error code that you are getting, most of the error codes has common troubleshoot suggestion, so I think it will be worth to try the suggestions from the article.

    Besides, try the following step:

    1.       Use Office uninstall support tool to uninstall Office, download this tool from this article.

    2.       Please install Microsoft 365 from Office 365 portal. For reference, see Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac

If it still didn’t work, then download and install Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant, this tool will help you identify the problem

If the issue persists, please provide us with the screenshot of the error code showing the complete error and confirm were in the install process when you received the error.

    Regards,

    Neha

    Hi Pride73,

Thanks for replying. In your post, you mentioned "I now tried another link (portal.office.com) to download the apps and it worked", does that mean you are able to install Office now? If not, let me know, we'll troubleshoot further, wanted to confirm this to avoid any confusion.

    Kind Regards,

    Neha

    Hi Neha

Thanks for the info regarding the scam. I already thought there was something wrong and I wouldn't have called anyways because I'm in Switzerland and that was a US number.

I now tried another link (portal.office.com) to download the apps and it worked. My other attempt is attached. The tools were already activ, I was able to use them with the browser.

    Thanks and kind regards

    Heidi
