I have purchased Office 2019 to run on a new MacBook Air . I can't copy and paste charts from excel into a working Word document.  I can copy into a new blank document but not from the blank document into the working document.

Help urgently needed, please.  Report due in!!!

Just a hunch: I believe you are pasting as In Line With Text & have the Line Spacing set to an Exact value which isn't sufficient to display the entire object.

Go to Word> Preferences - Edit then change the Insert/Paste Pictures as preference to something other than In line with text. Once you've made the change try pasting the Chart again.

Another approach is to right-click the portion of the Chart & select a different form of Text Wrap, such as Square or Tight.

If my hunch is right but you do want the Chart object to be In Line, instead of applying Text Wrap  you'll need to modify the Line Spacing to something other than Exactly... You'll also wind up with a big gap of white space above the line where the Chart is inserted :-)

    Hi Bob

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It worked!  Your hunch was correct and once I had unchecked the 'in line with text' as per your instructions it was like magic!  I can't thank you enough!

    Best wishes

    Janet

Exactly what method are you using & what happens when you try? Details are important.

It sounds like what you're calling "a working Word document" is saved in the old .doc file format which does not support the current graphics objects. Does the term Compatibility Mode appear in the title bar following the file name?

In Word use File> Convert Document [or use File> Save As to create a new .docx version] then try again in the new version.

If you continue to have a problem please provide as much additional detail as possible. Also, from Word> About Microsoft Word determine the present Version of your Office software & include that in your reply.
