Location of OneDrive folder on PC

Your OneDrive is set up where you have chosen to set it up.  Go to the cloud icon on the taskbar > OneDrive settings > Account tab > "Unlink This PC" and unlink it.  Then set up OneDrive again and choose the OneDrive folder on Drive D as your OneDrive.  

Or create a new empty folder on Drive D, name it "OneDrive", link up to it, and let everything download from the online OneDrive.  That's useful if you are sure the online OneDrive is correct but your local files might have been messed up.  If something is missing from your synced files then you can go to those old OneDrive folders that are no longer syncing and find it.  You never can have too many backups if you have the space to store them.

Also on the "Account" tab > "Choose folders" and select the folders that you want to download from the online OneDrive and sync to your PC's OneDrive.

Also go to the Backup tab and sync up your Documents, Desktop, and Pictures folders if you want to do that.

Further information. Posted as much to check my logic is correct and to perhaps be of use to someone else with a similar question.

OneDrive - Personal and C:/Users/Name/OneDrive/. So OneDrive - Personal  is effectively a File Explorer shortcut. 

I checked the date to see the latest date on a few files on these folders. In all folders and sub-folders the date is the same old date (early May).

I created a new file "test.docx" and saved it to D:/OneDrive/. (All recent files are also on this folder tree - D:/OneDrive/). Neither this nor other recent files appear OneDrive - Personal nor C:/Users/Name/OneDrive/.

I am confused abut this because if I click on the Cloud icon on the Task bar, I see that my OneDrive is reported as synced up to date, but if I click on Open Folder it opens C:/Users/Name/OneDrive/ which has older files. Clicking on View on line shows the same older files on the cloud. The test.docx  file in not there either. However if I saved it to C:/Users/Name/OneDrive/ it did appear there.

A laborious way to find out which files go where! So, as I have a backup of these D:/OneDrive/ files (all the important ones) on a separate hard disk, it should be safe enough to try deleting a file or folder from OneDrive - Personal and C:/Users/Name/OneDrive/ and see what happens with the on-line OneDrive. 

So my plan is to relocate the OneDrive  folder to D:/OneDrive. What I am not sure of is whether to delete the contents of the on-line store first.

No - using personal copy.

How did you create OneDrive on D:?

I can't really remember! Probably manually. It does however show Cloud symbol by it.
