i dont know how the worst OS i ever used was Windows 10. it has ALWAYS given me problems since it came out. but anyway back to why i want to use office 2019 on windows 8.1. i got my alienware aurora R8 with windows 10. and at this point you know i dont like windows 10. but anyway i installed windows 8.1 and windows 7 alongside windows 10 (and no i will not remove them or upgrade them.) and i dont want to use windows 10 when everything crashes(explorer.exe, etc. (it has done that to me for years)) but can there be a special version of office 2019 that people can run on windows 8.1 if they have used windows 10 and give up on it? i have only office 2013 and 2019 on my MS account and have office 2007 and 2003 for nostalgia.

and yes this was typed from windows 8.1. i cant afford office 365. nor a key for 2016. what do i do? (the alienware came with office 2019)

    Hello Winxpfan

    >>

but can there be a special version of office 2019 that people can run on windows 8.1

    <<

Since this is a user-to-user support forum where users help other users, no one can speak on behalf of Microsoft and what they may offer. With that said,

#1 - There is no version of Office 2019 that is explicitly supported on Win 8.1 - it doesn't exist

#2 - While this is my personal opinion, seriously doubt that there ever will be such a thing since it would defeat the whole purpose of only supporting Win 10 with '2019. The whole purpose is to get people to be current with their software products - continuously trying to support old versions is an extremely expensive and time-consuming process.

Your only alternative is to use Office 2013 on Win 8.1 unless you really, really need the latest features of '2019.

While I know you've mentioned having had a bad experience with Win10 - FWIW, I currently have W10 installed on 3 different computers that I use all the time along with 2 others that were replaced due to age. Have been using W10 since it was first released and haven't had any more problems with W10 then had with W7 and W8.1.

Sorry - am aware Alienware is from Dell which was the point I was trying to make

If you have base problems running W10 on this machine, not entirely convinced a VM would fare much better. If there is a licensing issue - not one I'm aware of, I have about 10 different W10 VMs configured.

If this were me, I would at least spend some time in the W10 trying to resolve the grief you're going through - don't think it's just W10 that's the problem and the folks in the W10 forum (and perhaps with some help from Dell Support) - this can get all squared away once and for all since W10 isn't going away.

dell bought alienware btw so technically i am using a dell.

my alienware is an R8. and it came with windows 10. idk why but windows 10 seems to hate me. i could run windows 10 in a VM but there is a problem with that idk if using my windows 10 pro product key (the one my PC came with) would be usable in a VM(even tho the Host is the same as the OS came on). idk if that is against the licencing agreement...

Re: Using '2019 key with '2016?

Sadly, the answer to that is also: No.

    You're only options are

#1 - Try and resolve the W10 problems on your current machine. There are some really knowledgeable people in the WIndows 10 forum that may be to help you out

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    #2 - Purchase a license for '2016 OR

#3 - Get a new machine (also FWIW, while I don't use an Alienware machine, all of my current machines are from Dell being 3 +/-yrs, 1 +/-yr and 3mths old - all work flawlessly with W10)
