How to Enable Editing

On my document, I followed the instructions to

1--Go to file info

2.  Select Protect document

3.  Enable editing-------------This was no where to be found.

First, I do not even know how I stumbled onto the editing feature, but my edits had a red line

drawn thru ….. and I made my corrections, again in red.

I need to edit after proofing, BUT am unable to complete this important step.

Can you please help me?

Thank you,

Jan

    Hi Jan,

Based on your description, you can't enable editing on a Word document.

And I noticed that you mentioned you can't find "Enable editing", may I confirm that when you open the document, go Developer > Restrict Editing, will you see the same window as the picture below?

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

Have you looked at Review > Restrict Editing?

Also, please elaborate on what you are looking for, specifically, under File > Info. Is Word asking for a password when the document opens?

Which type of editing restrictions have been imposed on the document?

Your description indicates that Track Changes is enabled. It could have been enforced via Review > Restrict Editing.

I am not aware of any restrictions. As I mentioned, I accidentally tripped 'something' to prompt editing. It was not

deliberate, but now that I have, I just need to know how to enable editing, so I can finish the process.

    Can you help?
