Hi

I have just had  a new notebook and I have Office 365 installed.   I have always saved all my documents on dropbox.  I am now unable to access them when I want to upload a photo to facebook or open a document in word or powerpoint, although if I go directly to dropbox I can access my files.

    Hi Kathy,

Sorry for the late response due to out of office and thanks for the clarification, based on "If I open Excel there is no route into Dropbox, it just isn't there" , as mentioned above, Dropbox is not integrated into Office like OneDrive,  so you cannot open them directly from Office, you may need to download them to local disk first, and then open them with Office.

And currently there is no official tool can help us move files from Dropbox to OneDrive directly, the easiest way is to download OneDrive app, and then save your files to the OneDrive sync folder in File Explorer, they will be synced to OneDrive automatically so that you don't need to upload them manually.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

    Hi Arck

Thank you for your response.   I can only open Dropbox by accessing it directly.   It does not appear as a programme anywhere else.   Sorry I am not very technical but I have been using technology for a long time so I am not a complete novice but by no means an expert.  I don't get an error message because I just can't find Dropbox through any programme.  If I open Excel there is no route into Dropbox, it just isn't there.

I would be happy to transfer everything to One Drive but there appears to be no easy route to do this.   Is the only way to save to a memory stick and then re-save?   That will be very time consuming as I have quite a lot, particularly photos.

I really appreciate your help.   Many thanks

    Kathy Coe

    Hi kath57,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I'm glad to offer help.

According to your description, since Dropbox and Microsoft Office are products of two different companies, their production technologies are different, so there may be a little conflict when used together.

In your case, to better understand and reproduce your situation, could you please indicate how you "open a document in word or powerpoint" that saved in your Dropbox? Maybe you can try to download the files from Dropbox to local disk and then open them with Microsoft Office.

Besides, if you have encountered any error message when trying to access files within Microsoft Office, could you please attach a screenshot of the error message? Your cooperation and understanding will be highly appreciated.

By the way, if you want, I'd like to recommend you to use OneDrive, which is the best practice to use Microsoft Office and cloud storage to work together.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Arck
