Is there a way to search for TOC fields in a word document? Using ^d in the search option (special field) does not work.

A PDF-to-Word conversion is unlikely to create any fields in the resulting Word document.

In any event, an ordinary Find will locate content in TOC fields, without recourse to the ^d parameter. The ^d parameter is only used when you have the field code display toggled on and you're searching the field code itself - not the field's results.

The converting software, ABBYY, does actually create multiple fields. What happens is that I am converting old reports, as developed with a typewriter, into word.

    Thanks

    Hi!

In reality the TOC fields in my computer are mostly the result of a bad conversion from pdf to word conversion. Cannot you search for the TOC fields with a macro?

It is more likely that you should be searching for TC fields as they are the fields that are used to mark a table of contents entry.  The TOC field is the one which is used to create a Table of Contents, either from TC fields, or Outline Levels or Styles and it is usually located at the front of your document.
