Creative commons search in Office 365 products.

Hi

When I use the "online image" search function (ex. in Powerpoint or Sway), what license filter does the Bing search engine use to show me "creative commons" images when enabled? Does it show CC0 only, or CC BY aswell?

In the case it shows CC BY, is there a way to a see where the image originates through the 365 product, so I can attribute credit accordingly?

Hi Mikkel Nedergaard Fredenslund,

Thanks for posting in the community.

For your first concern, base on my test and searching, it will show both CC0 and CC BY license images.

In PowerPoint, you can find the license by going to the source of the image, looking up the exact license and then reading its details on the Creative Commons website.

First. I will always credit images when needed. I teach digital culture in highschool, so the query I placed here are for the purpose of identifing problems when my students work with office 365.

This leads me to the second part. The problem, I can conclude from this thread, is using the office 365 online image search is a huge detour and useless feature when you want to comply with data protection acts.

If you have to look up the source of an image, found through the office 365 online image feature, in Bing or Google image search afterwards anyways, you should just start your image search on sites like creative commons.

    Regards,

    Mikkel

    Hi George

I have looked at your reply, and it resolved the first question.

In regards the second question, I am conluding the issue regarding attribution of credit to images with a 365 product is not an option.
