DisplayBarcode field code in MacOSX Word 2016 generates ERROR!

I've been trying to use the DisplayBarcode field code in Word 2016. When I toggle the field code all I get is ERROR!. It doesn't specify any specific syntax error, just yells "ERROR!" at me.

Since I tried just copypasting the field code from the support instructions on microsoft (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/field-codes-displaybarcode-6d81eade-762d-4b44-ae81-f9d3d9e07be3) I'm pretty sure it's correct. This is it:

DisplayBarcode “http://www.microsoft.com” QR \q 3

I'm at a loss here. Can't find any direct answers upon googling. Any help much appreciated!

This is another example of Microsoft's own documentation not acknowledging the fact that Office for Mac & Office for Windows are not the same even though they insist on alluding simply to "Microsoft 365", "Word 2016" & "Word 2019". The DisplayBarcode field is supported only in the Windows product.

The equivalent field in Mac Word is BarCode. You'll find it in Insert> Field - Numbering along with the supported switches available by using the Options button in that dialog.

Use the Send Feedback icon at the right end of a title bar to send a nastygram to the development team & refer to that article.

Don't know... The AppSource page lists Word 2016 for Mac but makes no mention of any Office 2019 program for either platform. Also, it isn't found when using the App Store from within the program.

Thank you so much! I had actually just found that out for myself, in spite of your very speedy reply.

So I also tried the BarCode fieldcode, and it didnt work either. Same result. But I've only just started with that, so hopefully it's just me f-ing things up.

Anyway, thank you so much for your kind support.

I haven't had reason to use that field in eons so I can't be sure but it may be that it's deprecated. I haven't found any confirmation but that appears to be the case since MS dropped support for postal bar codes quite some time ago. Everyone I know has gone to 3rd party software.
