How do I COMPLETELY REMOVE all traces of MS Office 2019 Professional Plus

Background:

I want to buy MS Office 365, but I want to make sure if I can use it offline, so I got it on trial first. I was able to active the license, download the application and install it without any issues.

Problem:

Every time I open Word, it says that my MS Office 2019 Professional Plus is not activated and locks me out of Word's features. I no longer have MS Office 2019 on my machine

Fixes I've tried:

  1. Switch your Office License - no matter what I do, it wont change to the Office 365 license. After restarting the app, it goes back to the inactivated MS Office 2019
  2. I tried deleting the following registry keys:

    a. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\APVI

    b. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OFFICE - it does not delete the entire folder. Only the 15 and 16 folder

What else can I do? Should I just give up on Office and go for an open source office application?

    Hi KMen_MS,

Thank you for sharing the experience with us.

May I know how did you remove/uninstall Office 2019 Professional Plus?

I suggest you firstly open Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features. In the programs list, check if Office 2019 Professional Plus appears. You may right click it and click Uninstall.

If issue still happens, I suggest you try the Office uninstall support tool.

You can get this tool from article below. (Option 2 - Completely uninstall Office with the uninstall support tool)

    Uninstall Office from a PC

If Office 2019 Professional Plus is found by this tool, select it to uninstall it. Reboot computer and check the result.

If Office 2019 Professional Plus is not found by this tool, I suggest you select the product that is found(it should be your Office 365 desktop app), uninstall it completely. And then reinstall Office 365 apps, open Word and activate it, see if the original issue can be fixed.

If issue persists, to help you do further troubleshooting, I'd like to confirm information below:

1.Please share a screenshot about "Every time I open Word, it says that my MS Office 2019 Professional Plus is not activated".

2.In Word, please click File>Account, then capture a screenshot of the page.

Appreciate your time and effort on this issue.

    Have a great day!

    Best Regards,

    Tina

    This solution partially worked.

First time I used the unistall tool, it didnt work as I chose to manually install Office 365 after.

Using the tool to uninstall AND install Office did the job.

    Thank you!

Do or did you have Office 2019 installed?

If you access your MS Account Services & subs, does that only show 365? https://office.com/myaccount
