How to delete thousands of rows in EXCEL 2016?

I am working with EXCEL 2016 spreadsheets that have more than 10,000 rows.  I occasionally need to delete many of the rows, for instance, 9,500 of the rows.  I do not want to simply copy the rows that I want to keep into a new sheet.

I know that I can use the Shift key, select row number 501 and hold the Shift key while I scroll down to row number 10,000.  However, that takes a long time, and there must be any easier way.  I will appreciate advice.

Let's say you want to delete rows 501 to 10000.

Press F5 or Ctrl+G to activate the Go To dialog.

Enter 501:10000 in the Reference box, then press Enter or click OK.

Either right-click anywhere in the selected range and select Delete from the context menu, or click the upper half of the Delete button in the Cells group of the Home tab of the ribbon.
