How do I save only images in a PowerPoint presentation to a folder?

Hello there,

I know you won't understand the situation from just the heading, so here's the story.

I have created a presentation with some data and pictures.

I am told to submit a hard copy of this so for that I am supposed to write down all the data on papers and stick the same images and submit it as a report. Now, here, they have asked to use the same pictures as in the presentation, taking a screenshot and cropping a picture one-by-one will take too long and is very tiring. I want to save only the pictures in the presentation in a new separate folder so I can get all the photos quick and at one placefor the printing.

I am not so sure about the Office version because I never saw it, but my Microsoft account says it is 2016 (for home and students).

I will wait for your input on this.

Thank you :)

Hi Shubh, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you.

I'm sorry to hear about this issue.

If you want to extract all the images in the powerpoint file, I'm sad to say that this feature is not yet available.

I would suggest to submit feedback to the development team in the link below so that they can add this in the future releases.

I would share a workaround for this one so that you can extract all the images.

Please follow steps below.

  1. Select the presentation (it should have a .pptx extension) with the images you wish to extract.
  2. Create a copy of the presentation.
  3. Change the copied presentation into ZIP file, this is by changing the file extension from pptx to zip
  4. A dialog box appears warning you that the file may become unusable if you change the extension. Just click "Yes"
  5. Extract the ZIP file.
  6. Open the extracted folder then open the ppt folder then open the media folder.
  7. The media folder contains the image, video and audio files. Each file is given a generic name.

This is a user-to-user support forum and I am a fellow user.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you need anything else.
