Hello

I have a client who has licensed 280 Microsoft Business Basic. Let's say you want to add another 40 licenses. Obviously the Business Basic plans have a limit of 300. What happens? Do I need to convert those licenses to Enterprise E1?

Hi Vivenzi – BESAFE,

Indeed, Microsoft 365 Business Basic supports a maximum of 300 users. if you want to assign multiple licenses to one user, you do not need to convert to E1.

Also, you can mix and match Office 365 plans. Please note that there are some license limitations at the plan level. The Microsoft 365 Apps for business, Business Basic, and Business Standard plans each have a limit of 300 users, while the Enterprise plans are for an unlimited number of users. For example, you can purchase 300 Business Standard seats, 300 Business Basic seats, and 500 Enterprise E3 seats on a single tenant.

Regards,

Grace

    Simple answer is as follows-

    280 Business Basic

Add 20 Business Basic to reach 300

Add 20 E1 / E3 / Business Standard / F3 etc moving forward as you have used up the max 300 user entitlement for Business Basic.

You do not need to convert the existing 280 Business Basic to E1.
