I want the content control to show on the screen but not print (Word for Windows)

I have a word form.  I have learned how to hide the control, and i also know how to set the property of the control so that it cannot be deleted.

Without the use of a macro, I would like the form control to show on the form (set cannot be deleted), but I don't want it to print.

When I hide the content control it might show on the form the first time, until it is typed over

You have been directed to the relevant page of Greg Maxey's website at least twice now.

    Hi RichardWalker_885,

I apologize for all the trouble it has caused and sorry about your time.

As per your description, switch to Design Mode before you can change the formatting of the placeholder text. However, making the placeholder text hidden would prevent it from being displayed, unless you also choose to display hidden text. As long as the Print option (File>Option>Display>Printing options) to print hidden text is not active (Print Hidden Text" is turned off.), the placeholder text won't print.

If you would like for VBA as like mention “MVP”mention there are article you may refer: Content Controls – Don't Print Placeholder Text

For reference related thread: How can you make placeholder text hidden when printed, but visible on-screen?

    I appreciate your reply.

Here is what I am trying to do:

    I have a form written.

I have used the context control that says something like "enter your text here"

When it show on the form, I have make it not show when its ready to print, but it doesn't show on the form either.

Is there a way if you use "content cannot be deleted" to always show on the form if that cell is empty (no input from used), and still not print

I also noted that forms content controls dont always work.  I find myself having to undo and redo quite often

Is your "control" a "Content Control?" That is something you expect the user to type in or insert a date or picture. These one usually wants to have printed. Do you only want it not printed if it is not filled in? I.e., you do not want the placeholder text to print?

Is it an ActiveX button to do something?
