Onenote - Switching between pen and mouse, keeping them as separate tools

When I first started using onenote (latest version), it knew the difference between my pen and mouse. so pen would stay as draw tool, and mouse would stay as selection tool. Taking notes i constantly switch (every 10 seconds).

I didn't change any settings, but now Onenote wont do this. If im drawing with pen, and I go to select an object with the mouse, it just draws like the pen. I have to go manually switch it each time.

This is super annoying and ruins workflow. I'm constantly drawing on things i mean to select. have i emphasized the constancy enough?

I've google this 100 different ways and I can't find anyone discussing it, let alone a solution.

thanks for reading, and any advice you have.

Steven

Nik, you are a little behind 😋

Your menus and the screenshot are from OneNote 2003 😣

The correct screenshot would have been:

But I'm afraid the OP uses OneNote for Windows 10, not having such an option.

Please refer the screenshot for know “Automatically switch” option.

    Regards
