Office 365 on new iPad Pro - limitations been resolved?

I just recently turned in my work laptop and working with my ipad pro.  I’m looking to get a new mac laptop or the new ipad pro which is being promoted to be a new replacement for the laptop.

I am currently finding MASSIVE limitations which are insanely frustrating with the office apps for the ipad ( smart art on powerpoint doesn’t work unless you use online powerpoint and even then it’s limited).  Excel you can’t have multiple files open at once.

So I’m curious before I make a $2,000 investment on a new ipad pro with the idea that it would replace a laptop....are the microsoft office apps for THAT PARTICULAR NEW MODEL designed to function in every way the way they do on a laptop?

Thank you!

Dunia

The iOS version of Office is the iOS version of Office, regardless of the hardware you run it on.

    So ....

"are the microsoft office apps for THAT PARTICULAR NEW MODEL designed to function in every way the way they do on a laptop? "

No.  They're the same as what you're already used to.

The closest iPad-like experience that'd give you all of the Office features would be a Surface, but they seem to have more than their fair share of problems. I couldn't in good conscience suggest one.

Other manufacturers have full-up but light Windows PCs that also have touch screens and can be used in tablet mode. Lenovo has several, I'm sure other manufacturers do also.  That might be the best choice.

PowerPoint for Windows is the most full-featured version. Microsoft has hobbled PowerPoint for Mac in arbitrary and unneccessary ways (You still can't create a font theme in Office for Mac. Duh.) On modern macOS laptops, you can install Windows and run it via Parallels (convenient) or BootCamp (slightly faster, but you have to reboot). Such a setup will get you the most bang for buck in PowerPoint.
