Based on your description, we understand that you want to enhance reusability & documentation of named formulas. We know that you can make your formulas much easier to understand and maintain by using names, However, we test Name Manager feature in Excel.
We found that rule has the limitation when we type special symbols. However, you may add Comment to describe the name.
