I have not made any changes on my Macbook Air (2020 model), but One drive Sync is painfully slow (Almost slower than the speed of dial-up internet) and it takes all my CPU power.

  • No antivirus or firewall is enabled.
  • Mac Catalina 10.15.7
  • One Drive: 20.124.0621.0006

Microsoft 365 and Office | OneDrive | For home | MacOS

Hi Everybody

I know thats a little late for answering...but i ran into the same Problem by a Customers MacBook Pro 2019 13"

MACOS Catalina installed...with Updatet Microsoft 365 Apps....meant oneDrive was up to date.

After some tries to stopping OD, reinstalling a newer Version, stopp syncing....nothing works...

  • Quit OneDrive. (Select the cloud icon in the top tray, then select Settings > Quit OneDrive.)
  • Find OneDrive in your Applications folder.
  • Right-click OneDrive and select Show Package Contents.
  • Browse to the Contents > Resources folder.
  • Double-click ResetOneDriveApp.command (or ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command, if you’re using the standalone app).
  • Rename the Root-Folder in Finder associatet  with onedrive
  • Start OneDrive and finish the setup process

After this tipps....all went ok.

Hope it helps

Same issue here. I'm waiting since 2 weeks to get my files synchronized. It nearly takes 5-10 seconds per small file - and I have a lot of small files as I'm a web developer. With dropbox, it took about 1 hours to synchronize. With OneDrive (standalone app; not the one from the App Store) it takes weeks...

Originally thought this was an issue on the new M1 CPU models; but may not be. It is pretty terrible how slow synching speeds are, and super annoying how it's impossible to get into OneDrive preferences - the app just freezes and causes the Apple beachball to appear. Maybe try changing the amount of folders synching? OneDrive icon> Help & Settings > Account > Choose Folders. It will take forever to get into these settings since the beachball keeps on spinning, and it also won't help with the ongoing synch; but should help speed things up going forward. Hopefully Microsoft realizes we don't enjoy this slow "feature" and resolves it soon.

Same case here. It's soooooo slow!! I have an optical fiber connection, one of the most powerful macbook pro config, still OneDrive takes days to sync dozens of pictures. Days!! Plus OneDrive is not responsive at all. It's crazy!
