How to convert the YouTube video into an MP4 format to insert into a PowerPoint Presentation.  What is the safe way to do this?

    There is a legal aspect to consider, most Youtube videos are copyright protected, and so it is not easy to download videos from Youtube, Google spend a lot of money trying to stop that

    What you can do in your Presentation, is choose Insert Video - Online Video and enter the URL of that video

    Unless a YouTube video has a Download link, it's against the user agreement to download video files. You can try contacting the person or company who posted the file to ask permission and to get a copy of the video. Then you can convert to MP4, there are many conversion applications and web sites.

    Hi John,

    Thank you. Am concerned about downloading anything for security reasons and hope that Microsoft will create a feature to make the conversion safe within its own system.  Can you forward this request to the developers?

    There are as many opinions on "the best" as there are applications to do the job. Once you find what the source format is, then it's a matter of what application does the best conversion between the original format and MP4. Most conversion web sites allow you to a conversion for free, and many applications have a free trial, so you can test and see which you prefer in terms of image quality and file size.
