I am looking for a platform that we can use in our organization that will allow users to post questions in defined topics.  This is a pretty typical use of forums and I am investigating the best way we can deploy this in organization using tools already at our disposal.  Is there a Microsoft 365 solution?  Is there simply an app that I can add to Teams, or Sharepoint that will facilitate this?

Thank you.

This isn't quite the functionality that I was looking for.  I have found a free and open source software that seems to check all of the boxes, but I am hoping to present a couple of different solutions to my manager.  The problem with the discussion board is that I can't create Categories and organize discussions into groups and such.  I am looking for something similar to the way this discussion forum is built.

Thank you for your help and suggestions.

    Hi Darcy,

Thank you for posting your question in this community. From your description, you would like to create a user forum with Microsoft 365 services. Perhaps it sounds like a user Q&A platform in your organization based on my understanding.

As far as I know with the built-in feature of SharePoint Online, there is a Discussion board app may help you to achieve it. You can go to a SharePoint site > Site Contents > New > App > Search Discussion board app to find and create.

With a discussion board, the user can create a discussion or question as individual topic, then all the SharePoint site members can add their reply under it.

I am not quite familiar with Microsoft Teams, but I did some research and finding. The built-in feature of Teams seems not feasible to create a user forum as there are quite a few users raise the similar ideas in Microsoft Teams UserVoice. But some members shared that there are some third-party tools can achieve it.

Please see the discussion in this thread about Forum in Microsoft Teams
