What's the early termination fee for Microsoft 365 plans on annual commitment?

Greetings,

I have been searching all over the documentation but I can't seem to find a straightforward answer.

I'm about to purchase a license for Microsoft 365 for Business Premium on an annual commitment, paid monthly.

  1. What if I decide to cancel my subscriptions for every plan 6 months in the contract, what's the penalty?

1.1. Would the fee change if the period was different (e.g. 10 months in)?

  1. What if I decide to remove a couple licenses (not all) mid-contract, would any penalty fee be applied?

Please, enlighten me about these changes mid-period of the contract

Hi Sir,

Glad to assist you sir. If you cancel the commitment or cancel a subscription, there is no such penalty and fee changed. Removing license did not apply because you have originally purchased those license and you could remove or assign license whenever you want.

If you cancel a subscription before the end of your term, the subscription status moves directly into a disabled state. For most subscriptions, in most countries and regions, the disabled state lasts 90 days. Admins can still access and back up data for their organization while the subscription is in the disabled state, but we recommend that admins back up their data before they cancel a subscription, especially if it's their only subscription. Admins can also reactivate the subscription while it's in the disabled state.

After 90 says, the subscription moves into the deleted state. Any data that you leave behind may be deleted after those 90 days is deleted no later than 180 days after cancellation. You can't remove a payment method from a canceled subscription until after it reaches the deleted state.

Hope above information answer your question.

Kind Regards,

George

    Hi sir,

Thanks for reaching back to us.

If I cancel my subscription mid-way through the contract, there will be no early-termination fee?

No, there will be no fee, and there is no situation you will get penalties or anything like that.

    Kind Regards,

    George

But they would still be charged for the remaining months?

What about in the 1st 30 days following an auto renewal?

Sorry, I don't have any documentation to refer to but based on my experience with MS, you made a commitment to pay a fixed amount for a year of subscription. Even though the payments are spread out monthly, YOUR commitment is for a year. I expect they will either continue to bill you monthly, or bill you the remaining amount all at once.

    .

That is basically how it works for consumer licenses. You can cancel for the first 30 days and get a refund. After that it's "no take backs".  You can cancel any time after that, but you won't get a refund.

    .

MS expects their pound of flesh. And once they have it, they don't want to let go!

Just to make sure, if I cancel my subscription mid-way through the contract, there will be no early-termination fee?

In which kind of scenarios I can be charged that fee?
