Excel file hangs when trying to clear large data filter (works in safe mode)

Hello,

I am working with an Excel file for work and whenever I go to clear a filter using the "Clear" button next to "Filter" the program hangs and won't respond. It will respond to single actions if I perform the action then click in the search bar at the top and it also runs fine in safe mode. Is there anyway I can diagnose what it causing the hangup?

    Hi Ben,

    Since it works properly within Excel safe mode, the issue may be related to some third-party add-ins you installed. To determine the issue, you can uncheck add-ins you installed one by one until the button works with no issue.

    If the issue persists, we would like to collect some information to further check it:

    1. Which version of Office do you have? After starting Excel, click on File > Account, please take a screenshot of the Product Information pane and share it with us.
    2. Does the issue occur on a certain workbook or all workbooks?

    If you can share this workbook with us, you can share file that contains this issue via an anonymous sharing link, such as OneDrive link below. We can also try to open the same workbook from our side in the same Excel app version and check the results.

    Note: Please ensure there is no confidential or private information in the workbook before you share the file with us.

    Good evening,

    I tried temporarily disabling Active X and Macros but the workbook still exhibited the same behavior. It would freeze and when I click in the search bar it unfreezes but any other action I perform causes it to freeze again.

    Is there any way I can upload or share the workbook, I do not see any options here.

    I also do not think it is hardware related as it works fine on my company laptop but not on my desktop which is a higher performing machine. One thing to note is that the processor is an older generation, i7-3770K while I think the laptop processor is a 6th gen mobile chip. Maybe something with the older gen processor?

    Hi Ben,

    Since the issue only occurs on a certain workbook, we suggest you copy the data on the original workbook to a new workbook to see if it makes any difference.

    Thank you for the prompt reply. I have disabled all active add-ins and still experienced the issue after restarting the application. Please see below for the Product Information:

    So far I have only experienced this issue with the one certain workbook.
