Issues with conflicting changes appearing in Word file saved on OneDrive

I'm having an issue with Word files in Office 365 that are being saved to OneDrive.

Periodically, it will suddenly say 'UPLOAD FAILED Some of your changes conflict with other updates made to the file [resolve]'. I then have to click on 'resolve', at which point it shows me the changes I've made in the last minute or so. I then have to 'accept' all the changes in order for the problem to be resolved and 'autosave' to work again.

The files are not being shared with anyone else, so it's not a matter of them conflicting with changes another user is making.

It's extremely annoying, and is not limited to a particular Word file!

Thanks. This didn't help. As I said, I'm not co-authoring with anyone. Also, I've been using onedrive for two years without any issues - it's only started recently.

Try the web interface, temporarily, and see if there is a difference in behavior.

Online storage may be sensitive to internet connection issues, yes.

Do you see the symptoms only when you access files via the locally installed Word application, or do you sometimes run into trouble if you access OneDrive via your browser?

    Hi KenB_42,

Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community. Based on your post, you're periodically receiving error messages regarding your uploaded Word documents in OneDrive. Allow us to thoroughly check on this and get this addressed.

Usually, you'll receive this kind of error if you're co-authoring on Word documents.

Your document cannot be saved to the server because your edits conflict with edits from others. Coauthoring with AutoSave turned on can help avoid running into this issue.

To know more about co-authoring, you may refer to this article: Collaborate on Word documents with real-time co-authoring

You mentioned that your files are not being shared to anyone else, however, just to be sure, you may check if the files are indeed being shared to others. You may follow the steps in this link on how to check: See who a file is shared with in OneDrive

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.

Could your OneDrive be short on storage?

Do you see any warnings or messages at all if you try editing via the web interface at https://onedrive.live.com?
