how to blackout using microsoft word

how can i blackout text for an anonymized review? i need to go through a word doc and blackout large sections. thank you

    Word does not have a redaction feature.

    You can use any of several features to apply a black overlay but generate a PDF from the document & send that. Otherwise the recipient can remove the overlay.

    If you must send it as a Word document you can protect the document as Read-Only but that may not be sufficient.
