How do I fix WORD bolding everything in the document, even when bold is not turned on?

I am currently using the most recent version of WORD through the most recent Microsoft Office, on a Samsung Notebook Pro 9 (Windows).

For the last year, or so, I've had an issue with Word where it will bold entire documents or will reverse styles - make everything bold that is not and unbold everything that is bold - when I hit Enter, copy/paste, and a few other instances. How do I fix this and/or stop it?

Here is a screenshot for reference.

One quick way to check on this would be to change the font to Calibri or another font and see if it is still bold.

I changed the font, as suggested. It stopped being bold. However... It kept going back to bold, once in Arial Nova. I closed the document and opened it again....

Every other line in the document changed to bold, 18 pt font, for the title on the next page. I've seen these issues with every other font, as well. It seems when I change the font size and style, it reverts back on other lines, if I was to delete a whole line, when I use bullet points.

Is this an issue with WORD or is this an issue with Windows? I did the repair as best I could - I was not able to find where I could repair only WORD. My laptop restarted while it was in sleep, sometime in the last hour and a half - I didn't check the time.

Are you saying that the font changes back to Arial Nova when you save, close and reopen the document? In that case, the document could be set to update styles from its template.

Display the Templates and Add-Ins dialog box and turn off "Automatically update styles." (To display the dialog box, click Document Template on the Developer tab on the ribbon. If the Developer tab isn't showing, you can display it via File > Options > Customize Ribbon.)

In the first instance run an in place Office repair

If the problem repeats, if you then close Word then Hold the ctrl key when starting Word to force safe mode and then test, does the problem re-occur

    If not

Within Word>File>Options>Add-ins>Manage Com Add-ins>Go....... what is listed whether active or not?

Does this happen specifically with the Arial Nova font? In that case, the font file may be damaged.
