Just to repeat:  Microsoft Office - a small suggestion if I may. In the Words Document taskbar is the HOME tab. When selected you get many options and one is the BORDERS tab The problem with this tab is when you open it, you can only select one task and the tab closes. Why isn't the tab left open so you can make or unmake multiple selections?

You can't have the borders drop down stay “open.” It is just a type of menu.

What you can do is display the Borders and Shading dialog box, as Suzanne suggested. On the Home tab, click the arrow on the border button to display the drop down and click Borders and Shading. See screen shot below.

The shaded box is the BORDERS box. I want it to stay open after I click on it so I can make multiple choices without having to reopen it each time.  Clicking on the SHOW TABS and COMMANDs and restarting Word has made no difference. Is there any other way?

    Cheers

    Tony

When you click the Show Tabs and Commands option, make sure that you keep only one Word window open. After having clicked the option, restart Word. Does that preserve the setting?

To prevent the ribbon from auto-hiding or collapsing, click the Ribbon Display Options icon on the top right of the Word window and then click Show Tabs and Commands.
