Microsoft Word Help

Good Afternoon,

Im just looking for some help with my Microsoft Word on my laptop.

Im currently trying to write my Dissertation at Uni and this has just happened.

I pasted a link from a journal article into my document and suddenly the screen went like this with text all over the screen in random places and none of the buttons having words on them etc.

I had 3 different word documents open at the time and all 3 of them have done this, plus when I tried to open a new document, this happened on that one as well.

I am reluctant to close the windows as I don't know when they were last saved and wanted to see if there was a way of rectifying this without having to shut it down.

I also had a powerpoint document open at the time but this is unaffected so the issue seems localised to just Word.

Any help would be so appreciated!

    Hi Emily

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

That looks like a graphics glitch that seems to be affecting the menus in Word also, is that correct, your screenshot is not very clear?

Go to where you were saving that document and make a copy of the file(s) you were working on in a different folder, so you have a safe copy of the file(s)

Then in Word, go to File - Options

On the left, select Advanced and on the right, in the Display section, turn off Hardware Graphics Acceleration

    Then Restart Word . . .
