Create guitar scale pattern using the lines in Excel

Hi,

I would like to know how to make a chart to show the frets used on a guitar fretboard for the different positions (aka modes) of a scale.

What I have done so far is to have spaced the columns and rows to my choosing and selected a rectangle 5 x 6 to be outlined in an Excel worksheet.

Now I would like to know how to add circle dots to represent the frets used for the scale run; the sequence of notes used for that position of the scale. These dots need to be in the middle and on the lines. Here is an example of what I am trying to achieve.  https://www.guitarworld.com/lessons/jazz-guitar-corner-learn-all-seven-major-modes-easy-way.

Don't need to have numbers in the inside of the circles, although that would be awesome if I could. So would the flat and augmented symbols but maybe I would just pencil that in on the printed version.

We have only one chart that has circles, the XY-Scatter chart, theoretically we can use that chart. But to control all that colors and labels is too much work.

An easier way is to draw shapes into a sheet ... using a macro:

    Sample file:

The colors are controlled by the sheet setup.

    Andreas.

Thank you. I am thinking printing what I have and using a Sharpie to manually insert those dots I need to complete my charts.

Couldn't figure out how to add new dots, change existing dots and so forth. Might have been able to use that chart you sent me to make a print out of a Lydian scale but you repeated the C on string 2, ha ha.
