Highlight Entire Text with One Tap/Click, Which Allows You to Easily Edit Easily

Hello, everyone!

I hope that you are all having a great day! I apologize if the subject for the thread is too long. Right now, I am having a bit of an issue with creating an aspect in a Word template. In depth, I am trying to create text and titles that can be tapped/clicked once, which will be highlighted by the cursor of a PC or mobile device, and you will be allowed to change the text or title easily. For example, I click the word "Date" in a document and the whole word is highlighted by my cursor, like if I just dragged it around the word, and all I have to do is insert the actual date of the day I am accessing the document.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration,

Please, have a great day!

    Hello,

My name is Charles Kenyon and I am an Independent Advisor in this forum . This forum is a user-to-user support forum. I am a fellow user with decades of experience using Microsoft Word. I have written extensively on using Word and have help articles on the Microsoft site.

You would want to use either Content Controls or MacroButton Prompts.

Content Controls can be found on the Developer Tab.

    http://addbalance.com/word/developertab.htm

You could use either a Plain Text or Rich Text Content Control where you want input. You can change the placeholder text by switching to Developer Mode. (Remember to switch back out when done.) Once you have completed your form, you can select all the text and apply a Group Control to everything. Then people will only be able to type in the content controls. Tabbing from one to the next selects the entire Content Control for typing.

If you want information entered at one place to show up elsewhere, you can use Mapped Content Controls.

MacroButton prompts are older technocolgy. They are fields where clicking in the field selects the entire field for typing.

These have the advantage of working in older versions of Word that do not recognize Content Controls.

The rich text content control should be ok.

Developer tab > controls section > find rich text content control box to insert it > select the box and click design mode > change the description words to anything you want for example "Date" > select the box again and click properties > change the highlighted color to any color you want.

    Now play with it.
