Can I configure the title bar in Excel?

While working in Excel, I frequently need to move windows around my dual-monitor desktop. But the title bar is so loaded with stuff (it's stuff that Microsoft considers important, but it's useless to me) that there is no free space for me to grab with my mouse in order to move the window. I first have to stretch the window horizontally to reveal spaces that I can grab.  I know there are altenative ways to move a window, but why should users be forced to use a method different from the one they are used to?

Is there any way to configure the title bar so it looks like a "normal" window?

    Hi John,

I'm Gustavo, an independent advisor. I'll be glad to help you.

Unfortunately some things can't be removed, but note that when the window is compressed, you can click and hold the window over your name to move it. That way, you don't have to expand the window. I know it’s not exactly what you expected, but it’s a tip that might help you.

    I hope this information helps.

    Best regards.

I didn't realize that you called "The Quick Access Toolbar."  I removed everything from the customize menu that was checked by default, but it's still too crowded when compressed. Why isn't the Search box removable?  Do I need to see my name on the right side? There are other was to search and other ways to get to my account. Why does Microsoft think these things are so important that they need to take up space on the title bar?

My undstanding is that THIS is the ribbon:

I'm talking about this thing, which I have been calling the title bar because that's what Windows calls it.

    > ... The "search-box" are-considered-"vital" by MS - so they cluttered the title bar with it. Sorry, there is no user control over them.

    Hello John,

I am Jaenise, a Microsoft Community Independent advisor and a Microsoft Office user like you. I hope I can help you with your concern.

You can try to remove the quick access toolbars enabled in your excel title bar by clicking the arrow down icon in the upper leftmost part of the title bar and select the quick access toolbar you want to remove. Please see screenshot below for more information.

Please let me know if you need more assistance.

Stay safe & have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

    Jaenise
