I don't see the "link to this slide" option in Powerpoint...

Hi, I am trying to get a link to a specific slide in my presentation. Mac Help says it is possible to grab a link to a specific slide in your presentation so that one can be directly brought to that slide. But when I right-click on my slide, there is no**"**Link to this Slide" option.

Is it because of my Powerpoint version (my version is 16.48)? Is it because I haven't shared the Powerpoint to any "colleagues?"

Hi, Lori! Let me clarify your question. Are you looking for a way to:

    1. Generate a URL for a specific slide in a presentation stored in the Cloud so that remote collaborators can access it?

    OR

    1. Create a link in a presentation that a viewer can click on in order to jump to a specific slide?

It looks like everybody here's responded to Question 1. If you're really after an answer to Question 2, then you're describing a Hyperlink or Action. Although either command can be used to create the button, links are more obvious when you use the Hyperlink. When the user hovers the mouse over an object with an applied Hyperlink in Slide Show view, the cursor changes into a pointing finger, which doesn't happen with an object with an applied Action.

Here's how to apply a Hyperlink to an object:

    1. Insert a shape, icon, or graphic into your presentation that will serve as the clickable button.
    2. **PC instructions:**Right-click on the object and select Link/Insert Link on the flyout menu. Select Place in This Document/Slide Title/[title of slide you want to link to]. Click OK.
    3. Mac instructions: Right-click on the object and select Hyperlink on the flyout menu. Select This Document/Slide Titles/[title of slide you want to link to]. Click OK

    Ta-da!

    Hi Lori,

    Thanks for posting back.

Since the feature is to make your colleagues access your presentation, please make sure your presentation is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint. After that, when you open the online presentation in the PowerPoint application, this feature should exist.

If you have any updates, please feel free and come back to share with us.

    Regards,

    George

I saved my presentation on OneDrive and sent it to my friend's email. Good news, I was able to see the "Link to this Slide" option. But it's only on the online version of Powerpoint; the link brings me to the slide online rather than in the installed version of Powerpoint.

Does this mean the "Link to this Slide" feature is only available on the online version of Powerpoint? My presentation has more interactions with timing and hyperlinks, and I was hoping the link to the slides could bring the viewer directly into the presentation on the installed version of Powerpoint, while also automatically starting the timed interactions.

    Hi Lori,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to this reference, the feature “Share a link to a specific slide” is available in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 and PowerPoint for the web. Please open PowerPoint, click PowerPoint and choose About PowerPoint to check.

Also, if you do have Microsoft 365 subscription, may I know whether the feature is missing in a specific presentation or also in a newly created presentation?

If you have any updates, please feel free and come back to share with us.

    Regards,

    George

Okay, I checked, and my version of Powerpoint has the Microsoft 365 subscription. The "Link to this Slide" feature is missing in all presentations I open, new or old.
