No permission to install Canon drivers on Azure joined device (Azure AD for Office 365)

I have several devices joined in Azure AD for Office 365 (Microsoft 365 Business Standard). I want to install on a device printer drivers for a Canon MF, but it doesn't allow me to do. It gives the following error message: You do not have sufficient privileges to install the program. Log on again with administrator privileges.

It doesn't matter if the user tries it (who is admin on the device) or if I try to install it (Global Administrator).

What is the issue here?

I think this is an issue with an outdated Canon driver install file package, and Canon doesn't want to spend time to fix this.

(If you pick USB install, it will work, but if you pick Network install, it will ask for Admin Privilages)

I have this same issue with a new laptop that we setup to connect to Office365/Azure AD only, even though the user account already part of a local admin, it still won't install. This is probably not a Microsoft issue, i doubt you'll find a solution from Microsoft, Canon need to step up and fix their installation package.

The best workaround, that I successfully deployed is to create a local user on that laptop, give admin rights. Then login using that local user to install the Canon Printer/Scanner Driver package. once installed, simply delete the local user.

We have the same issue with a customer of us (we are a MSFT partner). I am getting the feeling this is a Cannon issue with their driver software.

We have guided the customer to raise a case with Canon, I will contact them again.

Now I know we are not alone!.

    Best regards,

    Ove Bristrand

I don't agree. I installed it before the join to Azure and that gave no problems.

But now the system joined Azure with a new installation of Windows, the drivers installation fails.
