I received a message stating that an update fo microsoft office starter 2010 - englishcan be downloaded.

Is this legit?

    At least in theory you could have been offered an old update, for example if you reset your computer to factory defaults.

    If the update is available in the Microsoft Update Catalog (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/), it is legitimate. Using a more recent version of Office would be safer, though.

    No its not legit

    Support for 2010 ended Oct 2020 and no updates since then
