why won't my note display on my office 365 excel spreadsheet

My notes sometimes mysteriously disappear. In my worksheet below, the comment in the July 20th cellbox (F182) shows a line to the comment, but the comment doesn't display. I added a comment in the July 27th cell (F186) and it does display when I hover the cell. I tried to edit the note, but it won't open up the note window to edit.

I tried your suggestion and it didn't work. The result was the same- I can see a line from the cell going to the right, but it ends and there is not window with the note.

I also uploaded the worksheet to one drive and used office.com. Well, that worked. Unfortunately, using excel on office.com makes the worksheet smaller in size now paging down is going to require resizing my rows so I can page down one month at at time. This worksheet, as well as a few others that I use on a daily basis are kept on my laptop's hard drive because I don't always have wifi access.

I did contact support and was told I would have to delete the notes and re-enter them. That wasn't a very acceptable way to deal with it so I've decided to not use notes anymore and instead, scroll to the right of the calendar and type my notes in the cells.

Sometimes for reasons that are not clear, comments disappear off the display area. They usually can be found far to the right, selected in the edit mode and dragged back to a better position. In your screen show the line to the comment seems to be visible and doesn't go too far. In that case you comment may have been resized down to a point and if you select the very end of the line you may be able to resize it.

    Hi Ron,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I'm glad to offer help.

According to your description, please try to go to the Review tab > Notes > select 'Show All Notes' to see if the 'disappeared' note will show up.

Besides, you can try to upload this workbook to your OneDrive, then log into www.office.com and open it via the Excel Web App to check if the same problem persists, it would be helpful to determine whether it is caused by the workbook or the application.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

    Hi Ron,

Since you can see the notes properly when using the Excel Web App, the problem is probably caused by the application.

In this case, you can first try to perform an Online Repair before reinstalling Office: Repair an Office application - Office Support

    Best Regards,

    Arck

thank you for directing me to upload to one-drive. I can see the note now. Unfortunately, I have a 13-inch laptop and using office via office.com, the screen size is different and scrolling (page down) from month to month is different. I don't always have internet access, so I'm reluctant to upload all my often used files on one-drive.

I have run into problems with Office 365 installed on my laptop previously and working with support, the solution has always been to reinstall office 365. It's a nuisance, but I may try this tomorrow.
