Word has gray/black page instead of white (Mac OS)

So I don't know what triggered this but my word pages are now gray/black instead of the usual white. I have tried changing the page color to white in the design tab but that is not working because then the text is very dull, no matter the color. This must be some setting but I have no clue which one it is or how this even got enabled in the first place. I included a screenshot of what it looks like on my end. Even if you change the page color to white that does not seem to be the solution. This is also running on a mac machine if that makes a difference.

You have enabled Dark Mode. You can toggle between the black and white page background colors by selecting View > Switch Modes from the ribbon.

Have you tried simply restarting your Mac? Also, try switching to Light in > System Preferences - General then switching back to Dark if that's what you prefer.

If that doesn't resolve it please go to Word> About Microsoft Word to determine the present Version & type of License for your Office installation. Include that in your reply as well as indicating which release of macOS you're using.
