Hi,

the dictation button in word has disappeared.

My microphone works perfectly, ive enabled the privacy setting on my pc and in word so that speech recognition software is allowed. i can press the windows key + H for the speech box to pop up and yet im signed into my microsoft account with a license. but there is no dictation button.

Can someone please help, im not a fast typer so i need this to get my work done in a reasonable amount of time.

thanks

    Hi Ryan

Just a thought, the Dictate function is available in the free online version of Word, you could use that and then download the resulting file from OneDrive onto your PC

    Hi Ryan,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

What version of Office do you have installed on your PC, you mention both the 365 and 2019 versions.

Open Word, then go to File - Account to check that version

The Dictate function is only available in the subscription based Microsoft 365 licence and in the free Word online version in a web browser, it is not available in the one-time 2019 and 2016 licence versions.
